I wanted to thank everyone who prayed for us as we spent the week serving at Muskoka Bible Centre. It was such a great honour to teach the youth! This picture is with the staff of the youth ministry – amazing people! Totally loved serving with them and getting to know them.
I wanted to let you know a bit about what we did.
Each day, Monday through Friday, I shared with the 4th and 5th graders in the first session; then I spoke with the 6th to 12th graders afterwards. I was asked to speak about the Promise of God’s Presence.
Here’s how it went down.
On Monday, we looked at “God in Me” (John 14). We talked about the Holy Spirit living in each one of us.
Tuesday, it was “Sin in Me” (Judges 13-16). Considering the story of Samson, we learned that sin can really stifle what God wants to do in our lives.
Wednesday, I shared about “Worship in Me” (Matthew 22:37). We talked about the fact that worship is more that singing. We learned about correct thinking, praying, and true surrender to the Lord.
Thursday, turning to Joshua 1, we discussed “The Bible in Me”. It’s more than reading the Bible that brings us close to the Lord, we need to have God’s word inside of us.
Friday, we had a quick session on “The Future of Me” (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17). I encouraged the kids to be ready for Jesus to come back and to set their sights on heaven.
Beyond the messages, it was so great hanging out with them during the evening activities and seeing them throughout the day. One little fourth or fifth grader came up to me after the Tuesday session and said she had learned more about the Bible the last couple days then she had ever known!
My prayer is that these young men and woman will do great things for God in their generation. It was so cool to play a small part of that!
